Malaria during pregnancy is bad for  mothers and their babies, it is important for mothers to protect themselves. Malaria during pregnancy greatly affect the health of the mother and is also responsible for low-birth weight which is responsible for most babies death.

Plasmodium falciparum infection occurs mainly in Africa, however both  P. falciparum and P. Vivax leads to chronic anemia and placenta malaria infection leading to so many babies death.

What are the symptoms of malaria? 
Malaria often come with symptoms like that of fever which makes it important to visit the clinic whenever you are having these symptoms to get tested for malaria.
 The symptoms associated with malaria includes:    
* Fever accompanied with headache
* Chills
* Body pain
* Nausea
* Vomiting

Simple Steps To prevent Malaria During Pregnancy
  1. Get and use long lasting insecticide treated net (LLITN). It will protect you against malaria
  2. Get two (2) doses of sulfadoxine pyrimethamine (SP) as intermittent preventive treatment in pregnancy (IPTp)
  3. If you notice any signs and symptoms of malaria, go to the clinic immediately get tested and treated
  4. Avoid exposing yourself to mosquitoes
  5. Maintain a clean and clear environment void of stagnant water that can bread mosquito.
